We all know that our dogs are the most important members of the family, so it goes without saying that their needs and wishes must be fully factored in when choosing a holiday for them. At Greenway we don't just tolerate dogs we love having dogs to stay. Your canine family members will adore it here, they have their own large enclosed garden to explore and not to mention the 9'500 acres of Quantocks to "sniff-out". Biscuits beds and dog bowls await as do hot and cold outside taps to deal with those muddy little paws. The beaches in Somerset are dog friendly year round and all the local pubs also enjoy having doggie guests.
Don't worry if don't have dogs Greenway is not a "kennel" we pride ourselves on our very high standard of housekeeping (it takes us on average 14 man hours of cleaning per cottage for each turnover, hence the need for the large team of house-keepers that you can meet/see on our "meet the team" page on this website.)
Perfect for all discerning dogs who like a bit of luxury with their self-catering cottage, and their well behaved owners may accompany them!
Autumn is a truely magical and sensual time on the Quantock Hills in Somerset. The gorse is a mix of umber golden, the heather a carpet of amthetist, while the steep wooded coombes wear their fantastic autumnal cloaks. Across the hills and through the forests animals start to go about hibernating and gathering the last of their winter supplies. Doggie guests are sure to love this time of year as much as their human parents, as snuffling through the tumbling leaves is always so much fun.
The Stag Rutt is an awesome experience and the Quantock Hills are only one of three places it the UK where this natural phenomenon happens in the wild. The almost pre-historic bellows that eminiate from these mighty beasts is amplified as the sounds rattle down through coombes. To see a stag in his prime, head up, antlers back, alert for intruders into his herd is a sight to behold.
After an exhilarating day out potter home to your cosy luxury dog-friendly cottage; light a roaring log fire and hunker down in front of it while eating delicious butter-soaked crumpets and sipping on a cup of warming hot chocolate with marshmallows on top, before possibly slipping into the hot tub to revive those aching limbs.
Greenway is the perfect place for re-charging batteries before the hum drum of normal winter life.
As the resplendent autumn colours start to fade and the trees drop their leaves, the forests and the open hills take on a different, simpler more naked and rugged feel. Walk along a deserted Somerset dog friendly beach with the waves pounding against the Jurassic shoreline. Can there be a better way to dispel those cobwebs and put some pink back in to ashen and tired faces.
Head to any one of the numerous dog-friendly gorgeous local pubs for a warm pie and pint of the local best, before heading back to your luxury self-catering cottage for a well deserved kip.
Perfect for putting some energy back in to a weary soul.
Need to escape the pandemonium and stress that Christmas and New Year can befall us all. Imagine sitting in your own private hot tub on Christmas or New Years morning looking up to the gorgeous Quantock Hills in Somerset and thinking of all the things you would have to be doing if you were at home and not staying in a luxury self-catering dog friendly cottage.
Instead while you sip on your champers you can idley think of how you want your day to pan out - oh the decisions, what time to eat, what to eat, what to drink next, what to watch on TV- no hassle, no "musts," or "have to's" just your enjoyment, peace and pampering - bliss.......
Perfect for escaping the big family events!
Perhaps one of the most stunning times of year to visit the mighty Quantock Hills. A time when everything seems possible and the world seems a better place. A time when the trees start their march towards their summer mantle, new born lambs gamble on the moor and if you have hawk like eyes you might just spot a red deer calf nestling in the unfurling bracken. Through the woods carpets of bluebells and wild garlic lie, while the local village cottage gardens are dressed in clouds of primroses and daffodils.
All around your own private luxury enclosed cottage garden are the sounds of spring, the cuckoo calling gently on the breeze, the wood pigeons cooing and the wood pecker sounding out his new abode. The early returning swallows and house martins make busy flipping in and out through the eves - a sure sign that summer is just around the corner. At the luxury dog friendly Quantock Cottages you don't just witness nature, you are part of it.
Perfect for topping up the energy levels after a long dark winter.
Nothing says holidays like a summer holiday spent in Somerset. Thick clotted cream teas, bowls of locally grown strawberry, picnics on the beach or up on the moor. Buckets of Pimms and locally produced ciders. Long lazy pub lunches. Days spent exploring the numerous family friendly tourist attractions, evenings spent BBQ'ing and planning the following days adventures.
With so much to do and see in Somerset you will be wishing you had at least a month.
Perfect for friends, family and spending quality time together.
